Do
you have Vision?
We lift ourselves by our thought; we climb upon our vision of
ourselves. If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge
your thought of it and of yourself.

I am very lucky. As a coach with nearly 20
years of commercial experience I can take from business many hints and
tips and share them with those who do not come to me for business
coaching. Likewise I can take from life and use it to help those in
business.
I have trained many hundreds of individuals in
corporations across the country (come to think of it there were many
global operations in there so I feel I can authentically say the
world!)
Vision within a business is crucial. Unless the
person in the driving seat has vision the organisation is not going to
get very far. Think about going on a journey, but not knowing where
you are going and who’s going with you. A map is no good, as you don’t
know where you are going, there’s no use packing the car, as you don’t
know what you are going to take or if you even need a car in the first
place.
Think about vision as your big picture. But how
do I get my big picture, I hear you ask?
I love the analogy of the ant and the eagle and
often use it to get people focused on where they really want to go.
The Ant a fine industrious creature, working hard
for the good of his community. He can go many miles, considering his
size; bats above his weight, climbing unbelievable peaks and carries
many, many times his own body weight to achieve the job at hand.
The Eagle majestically sits at the top of the
tree tops, when he is hungry he scours the forest ceiling waiting for
the right moment to pick the best prey, his family sit safe and secure
far away from predators knowing they are king’s of the skies.
Who has the choices?
The one who climbs and fights every obstacle to
get the job done or the one who sees with a panoramic vision and makes
his choices based on all the evidence?
The Eagle is at the ‘top of the food chain’ and
why? Because he has the vision!!
To help you get some perspective and gain some
clarity of your vision here is a powerful exercise to help you get
some perspective.
Imagine your life as a river (draw it if you
like) it has many twists and turns, it sits occasionally in large
sunny lagoons until the next big wave comes and washes it onwards. The
river builds up with various twigs and branches picked up along the
way, some of them stay the course others for only a short while.
- Where does your
journey end, what is its highest purpose?
- Does it flow in to
the open sea? Or does it stagnate in dirty pools, polluted by
others?
- Does it flow
energetically with others of like minds or does it drift along
aimlessly?
- If you were to
drink it would it taste clear or would it be clouded by bitterness?
Answer these questions and you may find yourself near a vision that
you like the look and sound of.
