Emma Ranson Bellamy began her career as a
commission-only Telephone Sales Exec at the age of
18.
"I was appalling and the company was too. I was thrown
in at the deep-end making calls before lunch on my first
day. I had no idea what I was doing and there was no-one
to train or coach me. Somehow I struggled through and
kept turning up to work even though the pay was rubbish
and the building was falling down around my ears. The
thing that kept me from leaving was the amazing people I
worked with. Sales people have a natural voracity which
is infectious and energising, and the electric feeling I
got when I made a sale was addictive. Even with no
training I managed to make some money
After being fired from that job I got a proper one at
Morgan Grampian selling on their flagship "The
Engineer". At last I received some training myself.
AIDA (Attention Interest Desire Action, still rings in
my ears 25 year on!) I was then head-hunted to work on
"Building Magazine" and "Chartered Quantity Surveyor",
managing to job-hop through the 80’s and early 90’s
recessions. I then began a life-long love of
newspapers, starting at The Guardian and Observer and
ending with Associated Newspapers. I have worked at all
levels and in all departments and absolutely loved my
time in London media in those heady days.
With the New Millennium and after a career break to have
a family I became a freelance trainer, specialising in
Sales Team and Sales Manager Development. This led me to
an interest in coaching and I embarked on a coaching
qualification in 2004. In 2005 I emerged from the UK
College of Life Coaching with honours and started my own
coaching practice based in the South West.
I now specialise in coaching leaders and potential
leaders in both general management and, of course,
Sales. I have developed a Sales Competencies
Framework which gives a full audit of your team
strengths and challenges, to which to plan a strategic
development path.
